AGK warns that the lawsuit of President Osmani's sister is considered an attempt to pressure the media

Association of Journalists of Kosovo has expressed serious concern regarding the lawsuit filed by Blinera Osmani to several online media outlets and journalists, for reporting on the manner in which she was granted a law license.

According to the AGK, after analyzing the case, "this lawsuit contains clear elements of a Strategic Lawsuit Against Public Participation (SLAPP)", describing it as an attempt to influence the work of the media.

The lawsuit is related to an investigation published by Nacionale and journalist Oqean Dermaku, which alleges that Osmani was issued a license without a legally required document. This reporting was also distributed by other media outlets and journalists, lajmi.net reports.

AGK emphasizes that “this lawsuit represents a clear attempt to penalize, intimidate and discourage media and journalists” for reporting on issues of public interest, adding that it “produces an intimidating effect on investigative journalism.”

The organization has announced that it will monitor the case in court and has expressed confidence in the justice institutions, also mentioning the importance of prioritizing cases related to journalists and media freedom.
