Albanian students protest today in Skopje

Albanian students in North Macedonia are protesting in Skopje today for the right to take exams in the Albanian language.

The President of the Student Parliament of the "Mother Teresa" University in Skopje, Besar Sejdiu, has called for broad civic support for a peaceful protest to be held on Monday in the capital of North Macedonia.

According to the announcement, the protest will start at 12:30 from Ura e Gurit. The students demand the realization of the right to take the jurisprudence exam in Albanian, a right that, as emphasized, is guaranteed by the Constitution and by law, but which is still not being implemented in practice, reports KP, transmits Periscopes

Sejdiu has stated that the lack of implementation of this right for years is creating serious obstacles for Albanian students, directly affecting their academic and professional advancement.

He has described this issue as more than an individual or political problem, emphasizing that it is an important cause related to equality and respect for fundamental rights.

In this context, he called on citizens, institutions and all social actors to support the protest and participate in it.

The organizers have announced that the protest will be held in a peaceful and dignified manner, with the aim of raising public awareness and addressing the students' demands to the relevant institutions.Periscopes
