DASH publishes list of most dangerous countries, how safe are Albania and Kosovo for Americans?

At a time of heightened international tensions, including developments in Iran, the US Department of State has updated travel advisories for US citizens worldwide.

According to US authorities, these guidelines are intended to help citizens plan their trips with a clearer picture of security risks and to take protective measures while abroad. In the Balkan region, Albania and Kosovo are classified as Level 2, which means “exercise increased caution.” Serbia is also ranked at the same level. Meanwhile, North Macedonia and Montenegro are at Level 1, the lowest risk level, where only following standard security measures is recommended.

Among the highest-risk countries, Iran is classified as Level 4, with a “Do Not Travel” recommendation. According to the U.S. Department of State, risks include terrorism, civil unrest, kidnapping, arbitrary arrests of U.S. citizens, and unjust detention.

Meanwhile, several other countries in the region, such as Saudi Arabia, Oman, Kuwait and Bahrain, have been placed at levels 2 and 3, ranging from “exercise increased caution” to “reconsider travel.” The latest update reflects growing concerns about global security, as US authorities urge citizens to be well-informed before any international travel.
