Historians demand resolution against Shkëlzen Gashi's book on massacres in Kosovo

The League of Historians of Kosovo "Ali Hadri", branch in Deçan, has addressed an official request to the Assembly of Kosovo for the adoption of a resolution opposing the book "Massacres in Kosovo 1998-1999" by author Shkëlzen Gashi.

The request was addressed to the Speaker of the Assembly, Albulena Haxhiu, as well as the deputy speakers and heads of parliamentary groups.

According to historians, the book in question does not clearly define responsibility for crimes committed during the war in Kosovo and leaves room for interpretations that, in their opinion, violate historical truth.

The letter emphasizes the need for an institutional stance, arguing that the treatment of the events of 1998–1999 should be done on verified scientific grounds and with full responsibility towards collective memory and the victims of the war.

This request by historians comes as a result of the numerous reactions that occurred in recent days regarding the exhibition "Massacres in Kosovo 1998–1999", which was based precisely on this book, and where suspicions were raised about inaccuracies in the data presented, especially regarding the victims of some massacres.
