Neither in Pristina nor in Drenas, Lladrovci reveals a new location for the national stadium

The debate over the construction of the national football stadium in Kosovo continues to remain one of the most discussed topics in the country, involving institutions, federations and public opinion.

The growing demand for greater capacity and international standards, especially in the run-up to the 2030 Mediterranean Games, has increased the pressure for a swift and clear decision on the location of this major project.

In this context, the Mayor of Drenas, Ramiz Lladrovci, speaking to KosovaPress about this issue, stated that he has unofficial information regarding the possible location of the stadium, emphasizing that the final decision has not yet been made and that the process is in the evaluation phase by the responsible institutions.

He announced that according to the information he possesses, one of the options that is circulating is the construction of the stadium near Prishtina Mall, however, he expressed reservations about this idea and warned of the legal implications in case of possible misuse.

"400 thousand requests for tickets", pressure increases debates about the new stadium

"I have unofficial information that it will be built behind Prishtina Mall, in Gracanica. If someone sends it to Prishtina Mall for their own businesses, they will have a lot of problems with the law because property there is ridiculously expensive," Lladrovci initially said.

"I have unofficial information, I said I don't believe it, but the information has come out that there were requests. As far as I know, the government or the ministry has appointed a commission that will make the assessment and decide, and it is from the Olympic Committee, which is from the federation and the ministry."

"We, within the framework of the Mediterranean Games, should have been and have been foreseen the stadium, we have a signature with the previous minister that we have made and that we have in the signed memorandum for the stadium to be built as soon as possible. I and all the infrastructure that I have regarding the Mediterranean Games, I have made available and I am ready to make any intervention that will be requested from this committee or from this commission determined for this issue", concluded the mayor of Drenas.

The National Stadium is included in the 2026 budget, 4 million euros are allocated

Finally, the Minister of Youth and Sports, Blerim Gashani, admitted that currently, Drenas remains the most likely location for starting the construction of the new stadium.

We recall that Kosovo will be the organizer of the Mediterranean Games in 2030 and the construction of a new stadium has been promised for this event, therefore, with the approaching deadlines for this event, it is expected that the responsible institutions will intensify the process and come up with a final decision that will determine one of the most important sports projects in the country.
