Simeone after historic victory at Camp Nou: Barcelona is probably the best in Europe
Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone shared his thoughts after the historic 2-0 away win over Barcelona in the first leg of the Champions League quarter-finals.
Simeone feels happy with the big win away to Barcelona, describing it as a good result, but also knowing the risk of a comeback in the return leg a week later at the Metropolitano.
"We had never won at Camp Nou before. It's incredibly difficult. They are probably the best team in Europe, along with PSG and Bayern," Simeone initially said.
"Thanks to our teamwork, we managed to damage them at the right moment. The second goal gave us confidence – it's a shame we couldn't capitalize on it even more."

Reflecting on the nature of the victory, Simeone noted: "I can tell a thousand stories of games where we had 30 shots and didn't score. Football is beautiful because the final result is what matters. Today, we were extremely focused. In other games, it wasn't like that," reports Telegrafi, transmits Periscopes.
"We knew what they were creating with their high defensive line and we worked well. We took advantage of those situations, as we have done in almost every game. It was difficult because their pressing was excellent, taking our time. They had won 22 of their last 23 games, scoring in every one of them."
"Coming here is always a challenge. We showed courage and took our chances. Julian [Alvarez] and Giuliano understood each other well and Sorloth was ready for everything - a perfect finish."
Looking ahead to the return leg, the Argentine coach remained cautious.
"It's a good result, but the opponent will surely make us suffer on Tuesday. They know me and we know who we're playing against. We need our fans more than ever to push us forward in what will be a very difficult match," concluded the Argentine coach.Periscopes/
