This is how many Kosovo citizens became Swiss citizens during 2025
Kosovars are fourth in terms of the number of naturalizations in Switzerland for 2025.
According to official data from the Swiss Immigration Office (SEM), a total of 2.106 Kosovars obtained Swiss citizenship last year.
In total, around 41.269 foreign nationals obtained Swiss citizenship during 2025.
According to the data, this figure reflects roughly the same number as naturalizations in 2024, although far below the 46.711 foreigners who became Swiss in 2006.
According to the media outlet "Thelocal.ch", since then, the number has fluctuated around 40.000, which is much higher than the 11.208 foreigners who were naturalized in 1992, reports Albinfo.ch, transmits Periscopes.
Where are all the new citizens from?
Almost half of those who were naturalized in 2025 were from Germany, Italy, France, Portugal or Kosovo.

Meanwhile, about 19 percent of the total number of naturalizations were citizens of countries outside Europe.
According to Swiss media, around 18,5 percent of new citizens used the so-called "simplified naturalization procedure" instead of the general route through residency.
The canton of Zurich recorded the highest number of naturalizations in 2025 so far, with over a quarter of the total (11.100) taking place in Switzerland's largest city and the surrounding area.
